nb Stella - Day 15

BEESTON - CALVELEY
Torrential rain overnight and all morning so we stayed put outside The Shady Oak. At opening time we called in for a quick one before setting off in slight drizzle which soon stopped.
Even this chap has his wellies on!

Nice afternoon to clear the final wide locks of this section

Finally, the Bunbury staircase locks once again

Sunny mooring at Calveley - what a difference to this morning

CHESTER - BEESTON
We climbed up the five locks out of Chester in glorious sunshine

Wonky roundhouse halfway up the flight

This time we took the time to walk up to Christleton which is a very nice village. We found these unusual tombstones in the graveyard (where else?). Drink in the Ring O'Bells.

Late afternoon we called in to the new Tattenhall marina which is very new and has superb facilities, but not many moored boats yet!

(For Stella owners - we had a chat with Andrew Cooley while we were there)

Finally we moored outside The Shady Oak pub in Beeston and had an excellent meal.

ELLESMERE PORT - CHESTER

Very wet day. At one point I'm sure my beer glass on the hatch was filling up faster than I could drink it. We just retraced our steps today back to Chester. After coming up the Northgate staircase in a very heavy shower, we moored back at the same city centre spot as before at 5pm, and the sun has been shining ever since!
Overnight last night we moored next to the museum's trip boat within the secure museum's site as we had heard scary stories about mooring at Ellesmere Port!
Here are some photos of yesterday's very interesting visit to the museum.

This should be a photo of the newsagent in Chester who sold SWMBO yesterday's paper - "We were wrong to sell you yesterday's Times"
I don't know, send a woman to do a man's job etc. etc. ...

The Bunbury Arms in Stoak. Excellent pub with what looked like very good food. Never seen so many big posh cars with personalised number plates!

Church of St.Lawrence in Stoak.

Why all these photos of churches?
