Birkenhead
We took the Dazzle Ferry to Birkenhead.
The ferry is painted in the same way ships were painted in WW1 to make them difficult for the enemy to target them
Birkenhead Town Hall
War memorial
Nice railway station!
Sightseeing tram

Liverpool Docks
If the canal had not been closed at Melling, this is the Albert Dock where we should have been moored
Cat...
...and mice
Strange new pub by the waterside - wasn't there the last time we visited

Seven Terracotta Warriors
Here are all seven of the warriors on display.
I should have made a note of which is which - there's an archer and a chariot driver at least!

Terracotta Warriors
The reason for our quest to reach Liverpool was to see the Terracotta Warriors exhibition that we had bought tickets to go and see...
We knew they only had a few of the warriors (obviously!) so thought it would be a fairly small exhibition - it was HUGE
This was a funeral chariot which toured China for rather a long time. It was followed by a chariot of rotting fish to mask the smell of the corpse!

Stella To Liverpool - Nearly There...
BBQ time moored out in the country
Another shady mooring spot - The Ship Inn
Jazz band to serenade us
It's a bit weedy as the canal is closed due to a breach just beyond here.
We are moored at Maghull and are catching the train to Liverpool tomorrow

Birthday Trip To Southport
Had to go on the pier!
It's a very long pier so we took the train
Huge sandy beach
Even from the end we still couldn't see the sea!

Stella To Liverpool - 4
Moored in Wigan.
You may think it's strange to be moored 'in a tree' but it the only space left, and as it was very hot weather it turned out to be a good thing!
"The Orwell" is unfortunately closed which is a shame as it looks like it was a nice pub in an old warehouse building opposite Wigan Pier

Stella To Liverpool - 3
Moored at The King's Ransom in Sale.
There's a very good, and large, shopping centre just across the bridge
