This was an incredible place. I reckon you could spend 2 or 3 days here - it's huge!

You just have to be careful you don't get lost as it's a bit of a maze.

We went in search of Landseer's "Monarch of the Glen" but found the stag had escaped, although they did say it had 'gone on tour'.

We had to make do with this Landseer instead...

Staircase lock just after the Falkirk wheel. Just three manned locks at the wheel area and then lock-free to Edinburgh.

New St.Albans Museum

A quick trip back to St. Albans from Scotland - not really!

The new St. Albans museum opens in the old town hall in a week's time but we were invited to a preview yesterday with the intention of overcrowding the venue so the staff could spot any potential 'pinch points' where congestion could occur.

There were a lot of staff there, and there's a lot of work still to do.

 

The gift shop run in conjunction with the V & A museum in London. 

The old courtroom which is where visitors are expected to consume their food and drink from the café - not sure about that idea...
