The Coffin Works - Birmingham

Just been to The Coffin Works!
It's a time warp museum left as it was in the 1960s which is how it was when it closed in the 1990s. Really just like the jewellery museum where the staff just locked the door at the end of the day - and walked away.
As you will see, health and safety was non-existent.

You can start by making yourself a cup of tea or coffee in the staff room and leaving your money in the honesty box.

All genuine Pyrex cups and saucers.

The staff notice board.

Hartwell House - Upstairs...

Our large room

Hartwell House - Interior

Fairly self explanatory I think, beginning with just three of the downstairs rooms

Hartwell House - Part 2

A rather icy weir

A romantic battlemented turret - it said...

I think these are beehives?

Hartwell House - Aylesbury

Just back from a one night stay at Hartwell House near Aylesbury.
Pretty expensive, but well worth it.
Although it's a bit 'posh' the staff really put you at ease and ensure you have a great experience.

A folly in the grounds which was originally St.Mary's church until the ceiling collapsed after the Second World War.

This was originally the centre span of Kew bridge in London which was dismantled in 1898 and divided up into lots then sold at auction.

Skating ducks.

Eric's Sister, Saffie

After the tragic loss of Eric, we still have (thank goodness) his sister Saffie to care for.
She seems OK at the moment and resigned to the fact that her brother has 'gone'.
Hopefully a more cheerful post next time!

Not A Happy New Year

Unfortunately there won't be any more photos of Eric on the blog as our beloved 'boy' was run over and killed on Wednesday.

SWMBO and I are devastated as you can imagine - can't write any more at the moment.

Happy New Year

It's good to start the year with a moan.
I've certainly got something I'd like to banish to Room 101 - glitter on Christmas cards. More precisely, the glitter from Christmas cards that gets all over me!
It's acceptable, I suppose, when it stays where it belongs, but how often does that happen?
It all starts when you open the envelope and the first batch of glitter falls out all over the table...
