The whole promenade area has been completely rebuilt following the disastrous floods of a few years ago when tons and tons of debris was washed down the mountainside into the harbour

HPB Madeira - New Year Fireworks
Here are some shots of the fireworks in and around Funchal which were taken from our balcony.
Apparently they cost 1.4 million euros!
