Lords - 200th Anniversary - Post 2

Picnics were allowed on the outfield for the first time in a long while

We got in to the pavilion with a friend who is a member

Lords - 200th Anniversary

Just to interrupt our cruise around the UK for a while...

Yesterday SWMBO and I went to Lords for their 200th anniversary celebrations.
The first match ever played there was the MCC against Hertfordshire and this was re-created yesterday.
This is the media centre

The pavilion

Picnics on the outfield were allowed as they were all those years ago

Hertfordshire batted first.
The big 'attraction' was Brian Lara playing for the MCC

Cruising around the UK - Cragside

Our excursion in Newcastle was to the National Trust property Cragside.
It was the first house to be lit by electricity - hydro-electricity!

Probably the world's first dishwasher?

The spit to turn the joint was water powered

Cruising around the UK - Newcastle

Our first day was spent at sea travelling from Portsmouth to Newcastle

Everywhere we stopped there were representatives from the local tourist board on the quayside offering ideas of places to visit for those who hadn't booked excursions

This old boat was moored in the marina and appeared to be an old night club
