Portsmouth to Isle of Wight

A couple of months ago we went to the Isle of Wight with six other chums.
As you can see, we were very lucky with the weather.
More to follow...

St.Peter's Church - Benington

The church is next door to Benington Lordship garden

There are probably more snowdrops here than in the 'official' snowdrop garden!

This is Benington Lordship garden at Benington near Stevenage.

St.Botolph's Priory - Colchester

Went on a 'special offer' train trip to Colchester recently.
Maybe I was lazy, or maybe there wasn't much to photograph, but I thought this ruin was splendid.

Twickenham

This is York House which overlooks Eel Pie Island

These are the "naked ladies" - a statue complex in the garden

In The Fox we had a pint of "Naked Ladies" ale from Twickenham Fine Ales brewery

Liked the name - so we went in...

Eel Pie Island 2

After crossing the bridge you pass through this fascinating boat shed

Then the island unfolds

Here's the refreshment 'shed'

Some of the craft sheds.
All in all, a very worthwhile visit with everyone very pleased to see us.
Keep an eye on the website for the next open day!

Eel Pie Island

Last year we went to Eel Pie Island in the Thames at Twickenham.
Years ago it was a famous music venue.

Not impressed?

This is what it looks like now.
It's actually a fascinating artists colony which has two open days a year - otherwise it's a private island.

You get to it across this bridge...

Over the bridge in the next post...
