St.Mary's Church Hertingfordbury

You can see where we went from the post title!
A very nice country church.

Here's my usual photo of a stained glass window.
Don't know why I always have to photograph them, I guess I just like the way the light shines through them?

Lowewood Museum

Recently we went to Lowewood Museum in Hoddesdon.
This fella is the first to greet you!
It's an excellent small museum run by very cheerful and enthusiastic staff.
Well worth a visit for a couple of hours.

Whitechapel Bell Foundry 2

We had an excellent guided tour being handed on by each knowledgeable person to another.
Everyone was very enthusiastic, and happy to answer any questions.

The moulds are all made using a secret recipe of 'clay'- which includes the obligatory use of horse manure!

Olympics Visit - Waterfall Video

Amazingly clever - how's it done?

Olympics Visit 7

A few photos as we left the site.
Basketball arena.

This was a fascinating waterfall where the 'words' fell with the water.
I'll post a video next to give you the idea.
Never seen it before - I'm sure it will catch on.

Olympics Visit 5

Same photo as before - but now they've lit up the Olympic rings.

Few more people arriving now.

Three basketballs at once - must be practising!

The zoom lens (Leica) on this tiny Panasonic (DMC-FS35) camera is amazing - much much better than my old Olympus (FE-350) compact camera, and you virtually never need to use the flash which is excellent.
Finally got a shot of a 'basket' being scored.

Olympics Visit 4 (& Apologies)

Sorry for the gap in posting but my computer has taken a dislike to the internet and has gone into hospital.
This is from SWMBO's laptop...
Inside the basketball arena - the giant scoreboard.

We were almost the first people inside as we were tired and wanted to sit down!

The commentator shown on the big TV screen.
All the rules were carefully explained before the game began.
