Norfolk Broads 6 - Reedham

Lucky to get a photo of a train and boat at Reedham railway swing bridge - the trains are not that frequent

Bridge closed

The bridge actually operates 24 hours a day

Norfolk Broads 5 - Oulton Broad

 The Wherry Hotel

We sat outside the pub and enjoyed a couple of drinks in the sunshine.
This was pinned to our table which was rather nice

Norfolk Broads 4 - Somerleyton

Moored at Somerleyton and took a walk to Herringfleet drainage mill which was quite a way, and it was hot!

Norfolk Broads 3

Silver Mirage report for Alf who has asked about it.
There were only two of us on board so it was very comfortable and spacious.
We used the front bedroom cabin as the one in the middle only had a small window making it rather dark.
Two toilets on board - great!
A couple from a similar boat came to talk to us as they noticed Silver Mirage had recently been refurbished and had an electric sliding roof and electric winch for the mud anchor - which there's hadn't got.
The rear door is quite narrow for anyone of a 'large build'.
She steers very well and is very maneuverable as there are bow thrusters which many boats don't have.
Any questions Alf, please ask.

Norfolk Broads 1

When we left the boatyard in Brundall we were told to look out for this distinctive building on our return as it marked the entrance to a mass of boatyards from the River Yare

Our boat is in the middle - Silver Mirage.
'Stern-on' mooring took a bit of practice but was made slightly easier with bow thrusters. Some boats now have reversing cameras which would have been handy on ours. Luckily there's always willing boaters to grab a rope to get you safely moored.
This is our first night and we're at Rockland Broad

The pub at Rockland Broad had this burger on offer. I think that would have lasted me several days!

We liked the small pair of scissors provided to help with opening the sauce sachets

Fireworks!

Someone's letting off fireworks during the first week of October. Bl**dy ridiculous. Our poor cat was so scared she's just run up the Christmas tree.

Seen In A Pub

Saw these in a pub after doing a footpath walk.
Brilliant idea for the irregular stone floor in the dining area

Seen In Italy

Saw this in a supermarket in Italy.
Unfortunately, it's kitchen roll not toilet roll

Goodnestone

While we were in the gardens at Goodnestone, we found this plant in one of the borders and identified it using a phone app called PlantNet.

It's Acidanthera Murielae or Abyssinian Gladiolus.

We ordered one mail order and a few weeks later it flowered! I wasn't expecting flowers until next year.

The Fitzwalter Arms in Goodnestone was the first pub we'd been into since they all re-opened. It was a strange experience partly because they had a perspex screen at the bar with a hole at the bottom to pass you your drinks - but it wasn't tall enough for a wine glass!
