Holiday Property Bond - Braithwaite Court
Our next stop was Braithwaite.
They were still recovering from very bad flooding and the village shop had relocated to the shipping container to the let of the church called "The Shop In The Box".
This was the view from our front window

Appleby To Settle
We had time to make the steep descent to Appleby before climbing back up the hill for the return train.

Settle To Carlisle Railway
On our way to the next H.P.B. property we realised we would be very near to the Settle Carlisle railway so we had to take a look.
Our first sighting was the Ribblehead viaduct
Settle station.
Due to a landslide, the trains only run to Appleby at present but we thought that was good enough and bought return tickets with our newly purchased Senior Railcards

Askrigg Church (JR's Blog Post 1100 B.T.W.)
St. Matthew's Church in Askrigg
Bit of stained glass to commemorate the 1100th blog post!
See below for more information on the middle gravestone
Unusual to have just a 'Christian' name on a gravestone?

H.P.B. Askrigg
This time we weren't staying in the apartments but in the H.P.B. hotel, The Kings Arms
It was the village pub in the vet programme "All Creatures Great And Small"

Holiday Property Bond - Askrigg
Off to Yorkshire this time, with HPB
Quite tight for manoeuvring the car - and small parking spaces too.
We had to park in the village on our first night.
View from the beautiful gardens at the top of the site
This is where hunting dogs were housed
