HPB Blore Hall - Hartington

This is St.Giles Church in Hartington

Really striking bold colours in this window

Hartington has the only Grade 2 listed war memorial in the country
- and a superb cheese shop!

HPB Blore Hall - Ashbourne

Ashbourne almshouses

Grammar school

You can see the 'footballs' hanging above the bar which are used in the 'Shrovetide' football match.
The games are played on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday and can last from 2pm to 10pm.
Basically it's a rugby match played in the streets and the river. The goals are three miles apart at two watermills.
Most of the shops close and are boarded up as it can get a bit rough!

HPB Blore Hall - more site photos

This is the main hall at Blore Hall where we enjoyed an excellent 'Bondholders Meal"

Inside our cottage

This beam in the bedroom was just at the wrong height.
Although it was padded, it wasn't THAT well padded as SWMBO found out

We never remember to take the photos just as we arrive - before we've cluttered up the place with a load of 'stuff'
