Meal and Shard

Still enjoying my birthday presents!
On Monday we went to Marco Pierre White's restaurant near Bishopsgate where we had an excellent meal

Then we had a trip up The Shard at night.
I thought this was the last rays of the sun striking the top of the building but when we got up there we found it was floodlighting.
Needed a tripod really...

Photos from the top next time!

Cats Eric & Saffie - 1 Year Old

Haven't mentioned the cats lately - they've just had their first birthdays.
Eric on the left, Saffie on the right.

Asleep

Awake!

Like our last male ginger puss "Snap", Eric's in to D.I.Y.

"That looks like the instructions"

"Screwdriver needed next..."

"That'll be this thing then"

Cruise on the Ouse

Way back in the summer, we went on a cruise on the River Ouse in Bedford with the NHS Retirement Fellowship.
Here's the Swan Hotel...with swans!

Nice house along the River Avon

You'll notice they are all quite high up in case of flooding

Ah, now that's a pub on the left and an excellent Indian restaurant "Balti Hut" on the right at Bidford on Avon

Sheep Rescue!

When we were on the River Avon, we spotted a sheep in the water by a lock.
Luckily a couple a farmers were approaching on their quad bike and we were able to flag them down and tell them about the sheep.
They were very grateful and sprung in to action...

Luckily the lock gates had safely rails on each side so the sheep could be taken across

One dirty rescued sheep

When we returned upstream a day later, we could see the sheep who was still mucky but very much alive

Where have I been for the last fortnight?

Sorry for the lack of posts!

We've been back on narrowboat Stella for two weeks and I forgot to leave the blog primed with posts for when we were away!

Our trip took us from Hockley Heath near Birmingham to Stratford on Avon where we went on to the River Avon for a couple of days, then moored in the Stratford canal basin for a weekend.

Here we are moored right by the theatre
